    Design of Delta Modulated AC - DC Converters

    An analysis and implementation of delta modulation (DM) technique in the control of ac-dc converters is studied here in this project. The DM technique offers advantages of easy implementation, continues converter voltage control, and a direct control on the line harmonics. A simple circuit of the delta modulator is proposed, designed and fabricated in the laboratory. This proposed modulation scheme, fundamentally differs from conventional PWM technique, by virtue of its self carrier generating ability. Results of the parametric variation of the modulator are reported. Simulated and experimental results of the single phase DM ac-dc converters validate the analytical results

    A Case of Subhyaloid Haemorrhage Managed with ND:YAG Laser Hyaloidotomy

    Subhyaloid hemorrhage is rarely seen in ophthalmological practice in young males. We managed one such case in our set-up. A youngmale presented with sudden decreased vision. Fundus showed large collection of darkish red colored blood in subhyaloid space of theposterior pole in front of the macula, typical of sub-hyaloid hemorrhage. Treatment includes, amongst others, Nd: YAG laserhyaloidotomy. Prognosis, if treated on appropriate lines, is usually good.     Some New Results on Coincidence Points for Multivalued Suzuki-Type Mappings in Fairly Complete Spaces

    In this paper, we introduce Suzuki-type generalized and modified proximal contractive mappings. We establish some coincidence and best proximity point results in fairly complete spaces. Also, we provide coincidence and best proximity point results in partially ordered complete metric spaces for Suzuki-type generalized and modified proximal contractive mappings. Furthermore, some examples are presented in each section to elaborate and explain the usability of the obtained results. As an application, we obtain fixed-point results in metric spaces and in partially ordered metric spaces. The results obtained in this article further extend, modify and generalize the various results in the literature.This research was funded by Basque Government through Grant IT1207/19

    A Rare Case of Orbital Lymphoma

    Orbital lymphoma without systemic involvement is rarely seen in ophthalmological practice. We diagnosed one such case in our set-up. An old female presented with diplopia and proptosis right eye. CT-scan revealed an intraorbital mass along the superior orbital wall. MRI orbit showed space occupying lesion involving frontal sinus which was confirmed on histopathological and Immunohistochemical examinations. The histochemical studies confirmed the presence of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. This is a rare manifestation of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma with primary involvement of orbital mass extending into frontal sinus and cranial fossa with no systemic involvement.     Stability indicating HPLC method for the simultaneous determination of moxifloxacin and prednisolone in pharmaceutical formulations

    BACKGROUND: A simple, specific, and fast stability indicating reverse phase liquid chromatographic method was established for instantaneous determination of moxifloxacin and prednisolone in bulk drugs and pharmaceutical formulations. RESULTS: Optimum chromatographic separations among the moxifloxacin, prednisolone and stress-induced degradation products were achieved within 10 minutes by use of BDS Hypersil C8 column (250 X 4.6 mm, 5 μm) as stationary phase with mobile phase consisted of a mixture of phosphate buffer (18 mM) containing 0.1% (v/v) triethylamine, at pH 2.8 (adjusted with dilute phosphoric acid) and methanol (38:62 v/v) at a flow rate of 1.5 mL min(-1). Detection was performed at 254 nm using diode array detector. The method was validated in accordance with ICH guidelines. Response was a linear function of concentrations over the range of 20–80 μg mL(-1) for moxifloxacin (r2 ≥ 0.998) and 40–160 μg mL(-1) for prednisolone (r2 ≥ 0.998). The method was resulted in good separation of both the analytes and degradation products with acceptable tailing and resolution. The peak purity index for both the analytes after all types of stress conditions was ≥ 0.9999 indicated a complete separation of both the analyte peaks from degradation products. The method can therefore, be regarded as stabilityindicating. CONCLUSIONS: The developed method can be applied successfully for simultaneous determination of moxifloxacin and prednisolone in pharmaceutical formulations and their stability studies

    Efficacy of Topical 0.05% Isotretinoin Gel Versus 0.1% Adapalene Gel in The Treatment of Mild to Moderate Acne Vulgaris

    Objective: To compare the efficacy of topical 0.05% Isotretinoin gel versus 0.1% Adapalene gel in treating mild to moderate acne vulgaris. Study Design: Quasi-Experimental study. Place and Duration of Study: Department of Dermatology, Pak Emirates Military Hospital (PEMH), Rawalpindi Pakistan, From Feb to Jul 2018. Methodology: A total of ninety-two patients aged 12 to 25 years with mild to moderate facial acne vulgaris were enrolled and divided into two treatment Groups, Group-A (0.05% Isotretinoin Gel) and Group-B (0.1% Adapalene Gel). Efficacy was measured at 12 weeks post-treatment. Results: Treatment was found efficacious in 84.8% (n=39/46) of patients in Group-A and 50.0% (n=23/46) of patients in Group-B (p= 0.001). There were similar results when treatment efficacy in both Groups was disease severity. In all cases,efficacy was better in Group-A (p<0.05). Conclusions: The efficacy of topical 0.05% Isotretinoin gel was better than topical 0.1% Adapalene gel for treating mild to moderate acne vulgaris
